Description:

If you could meet any famous person, who would it be? What would you talk to them about? Would you dare to challenge them to a contest?

In this workshop, students compare and contrast Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” with Romero’s “Basketball with Edgar Allan Poe.”

Students write poems where they contemplate bringing a figure from the past into the present and watching as they adjust to the modern world (often, with humorous results)!

Purpose:

Basketball with Edgar Allan Poe gives students the opportunity to talk about some of their historical idols, while also developing confidence in their own unique talents.

CATEGORIES: LITERATURE, COMEDY, HORROR, PERSONAL, WRITING
